Normanton Solar Farm
The Normanton Solar Farm in northern Queensland is located on a site of approximately 10 hectares, which is 5km south of Normanton township. The Solar Farm has a capacity of 5MW (DC)/4.5MW(AC), and includes 16,000 x 310Watt solar modules supplied by Canadian Solar. The solar modules are mounted on fixed-tilt arrays, optimised for the Normanton site latitude.
The Normanton Solar Farm connects directly to the Ergon Energy Normanton Substation, located close to the solar farm site, via a dedicated 22kV overhead line feeder.
The 22kV Substation Building, including Control Room, for this solar farm was manufactured, supplied, and installed by T2 Energy, and included the following:
- 1 x Modified 40ft Container Substation Building
- 1 x 22kV Schneider SM6 switchboards
- 22kV Protection Panel
- 24VDC Battery Charger and Battery Bank
- SCADA Panel
- 415VAC Distribution Board
- Fire detection and Alarm System, including Gas Suppression
The manufacture, installation, and testing of this equipment was undertaken from mid 2016 with the switchrooms being delivered to site in January 2017, and Ergon energisation in May 2017.
